Ron is a founding member of Pena Garcia PLLC, and has close to 30 years of experience representing businesses, insurers, transportation companies, and other clients in complex civil and commercial litigation in state and federal courts.
Ron’s practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation with an emphasis on the defense of transportation companies. His experience includes transportation defense, premises liability, general liability, commercial litigation, claims arising from commercial motor vehicle accidents, personal injury claims, wrongful death actions, and other insurance defense matters.
He represents clients through all phases of litigation. Ron is known for developing strategic, practical solutions that mitigate risk, control costs, and achieve favorable outcomes for his clients.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Prior to founding the firm, Ron was an Equity Partner in the Miami office of Hinshaw & Culbertson, where he represented corporate clients and insurance companies in matters involving civil and commercial litigation and participated in various forms of alternative dispute resolution.
In 2010, Ron was named as one of Florida Trend magazine’s “Florida Legal Elite” in the area of civil trial law. Florida Legal Elite is composed of the top 1.8 percent of all Florida lawyers.
Ron is a former adjunct professor at Florida International University where he taught courses at the School of Policy and Management. He served as the 2007–2008 President of the Dade County Defense Bar Association and is a former member of the Association’s Steering Committee (DCDBA).
He is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, American Bar Association, Cuban American Bar Association, and the Federalist Society. Ron is an active member of the Lawyers Professionalism and Ethics Committee of the Defense Research Institute (DRI).
Ron holds the AV® Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for ethics and legal ability.
COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES
Ron is a founding board member of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Historical Society. He is also a member of the “Put Something Back Pro Bono Project,” a joint program by the Dade County Bar Association and the Eleventh Judicial Circuit to provide free legal services in Miami-Dade County.
